Bobby Dean MP

About Bobby

Bobby lives in Carshalton, just off Green Wrythe Lane, with his wife Gemma and dog Chester.

Raised on a council estate, the son of a cleaner and a scaffolder, he moved into the care of his grandparents as a teenager. Bobby has Indian heritage, with his maternal grandparents moving from Calcutta to Croydon in the 1960s.

His career was in International Development, where he ran his own small business advising charities working on global poverty, health and education issues. He has also been involved in human rights and democratic development work in Eastern Europe, Middle East and North Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Before becoming an MP, Bobby was already delivering for our local community as a local Councillor - helping to launch new mental health services, highlighting the sewage dumping scandal in the Wandle and working to improve the lives of children in care.

Since his election, Bobby has made St Helier Hospital his number one priority - fighting to retain its A&E services and secure new funding for a major regeneration.

As a member of the prestigious Treasury Committee, Bobby is fulfilling his promise to fight for a fairer economy - challenging the Chancellor directly on the impact of her budget.

He has also continued his award-winning campaign to protect the River Wandle, challenging Environment Ministers to do more and working with the South East Rivers Trust on local nature restoration projects.
